ERS - Enhanced Rider Scheme

 

Feeling a little rusty or looking to develop your riding to the next level? We can help! With experienced well qualified instructors we focus on enhancing your riding skills and increasing your awareness and ability. Feeling safer allows you to increase your enjoyment and enhance your experiences! Who knows where this adventure could lead, a tour in the alps, riding route 66 in the USA or setting off for the greatest day riding in the Lakes & Dales!

ESSENTIAL POST-TEST MOTORCYCLE TRAINING

The DVSA Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS) is an essential post-test motorcycle training course and suitable for all riders. ERS is delivered by fully qualified professional instructors, who are accredited and assessed regularly by the DVSA to maintain the very highest standards.

ON THE DAY

  • Turn up and have a chat about your specific riding needs

  • Go for an assessment ride to settle down to get into the flow

  • Stop and discuss areas where you may need to improve

  • Continue to develop riding skills and improve

  • Lunch with a debrief and further guidance

  • During the day cover as many of the Core Modules as possible

  • Get out to the local national parks

  • Debrief and further guidance

  • Finish with debrief and certificate issue if course is complete

To gain maximum benefit, riders should invest in more than one-day of ERS instruction and ideally, ERS is designed for delivery over three days.

CORE ERS MODULES

  • Cornering

  • Overtaking

  • Filtering (general riding)

  • Progress and use of speed

  • Slow riding

  • Creating a structured planned approach to riding

  • Defensive riding and hazard perception

  • Developing appropriate attitude to riding

  • Making safe progress

 

TAKING THE ENHANCED RIDER SCHEME TO A HIGHER LEVEL

After completing the Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS) Core Modules, riders are encouraged to continue their training experience and consider the value of the ERS Extra Modules.

Some of these Extra Modules are designed to be taken together, some are to give further guidance and experience in bespoke areas such as riding as a ‘Blood Biker’ and ‘Off-road riding’.

ERS Extra Modules can only be delivered by DVSA approved motorcycle training professionals.

 

EXTRA MODULES

 

There are 12 extra modules:

  • effective braking techniques

  • filtering (advanced level)

  • motorways and dual carriageways

  • carrying a passenger or load

  • riding for work: delivery or courier

  • riding abroad

  • blood bikers

  • group riding

  • Biker Down and accident scene management

  • motorcycle maintenance and machine awareness

  • mobile phones, GPS, sat nav and Bluetooth

  • training in alternative environments
